March 2022

Hey guys! I hope your April month is going well, but we're not here to talk about April, now are we? March was great, albeit a bit slower than other months. That's to be expected seeing how we had spring break and no bigger events other than our weekly Thursday night fellowships and 1 on 1's. One thing this month has taught me is just how faithful God is in the mundane.

I ran an outreach table for a student org fair, and I met a lot of people and some of them are interested in joining our community. I've been keeping up with the people I met, and even had great conversations where people asked me questions like "What do you think about Christians being in politics?" and "Why do you believe the things you do?" It was so windy that day, but I managed to keep everything up and running!

Our core has been so vibrant and eager to continue learning about God and how to live like a Jesus-follower. I'm reading "To Hell with the Hustle" With Laurel and "Hinds Feet on High Places" with Anna. Both of them bring great thoughts and questions each week, and I've seen them start to implement what they're learning into their lives.

Furthermore, I was given an assignment from my Preaching Workshop to give a 15 minute sermon on Philippians 3:1-14. I spent time developing this sermonette, thinking of my audience (the other campus pastors at UTA), and finding one Greek word to translate in order to help people understand the points I'm making better. I chose to have 2 points: Deny yourself and Rejoice in Jesus. This passage really ministered to me as I learned more about Paul's mentality as he ministered to the church in Philippi. As I gave this sermon to my teammates, I was reminded just how much hope there is in Jesus and not relying on myself.

March was a good month where I got to go at a normal pace, and God was just as faithful during it as He is during any other pace of life.
Here are some things y'all could be praying for!
  • I will be staying on staff with Focus! With that being said, I get to fundraise my salary again, and prayers would be most appreciative that God will provide generous hearts to support me in this.
  • I would love if you would prayerfully consider staying on my partnering team!

Thank you for the support each of you have continually giving me. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I am so so thankful for you.

God bless!
Emily Turner
